Tommy Richman has hit back at critics who have called him a “TikTok artist.”
The DMV hit maker is enjoying his time in the spotlight right now with the success of “Million Dollar Baby,” while hoping his latest single “Devil Is a Lie” has a similar impact.
However, with all the fame comes some unwanted opinions from the public. Tommy Richman took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday (June 18) to let people know he wants to be known as more than someone who made it from TikTok.
“I’m not no fukkin tik tok artist,” he wrote, with the post reaching over three million people.
X users replied to Tommy Richman’s post, equally supporting his claim and going against him.
“Blowing up from TikTok is different than making TikTok-centric music,” one person wrote.
Another person said: “Sorry bud but I only hear your music on tiktok.”
I’m not no fukkin tik tok artist.

Funk Flex is one of the most famous figures to criticize Tommy Richman’s music since his sudden rise to fame.
“Remember, if you’re someone that likes this song, you are a clown,” he said earlier this month while cueing up the track on Hot 97.
“I don’t know what the rest of his songs sound like. I don’t even know who Tommy Richman is. It sounds like a shoe store. Now we’re gonna document this hot garbage. We’re gonna play it, though. I know you wanna hear it. I wonder if this is big at clubs.”
Flex then played the beginning of the song, adding: “See, this part is deceiving, like it might be a good song. Watch the terrible part as it comes in. You hear the tin can drums?”
Following the release of “Devil is a Lie,” Flex changed his tune and admitted he “liked” that song.
Joe Budden has also been a critic of the track after some argued it would be the song of the summer, although he did praise the “marketing” of the hit.

Tommy Richman later hit back at the former Slaughterhouse rapper, commenting: “million dollar baby wasn’t bout u.”
On the other hand, Russ has been heaping praise on Tommy Richman for his work ethic since “Million Dollar Baby” dropped.
“He’s moving with a sense of urgency and capitalizing on momentum unlike a lot of artists who catch 1 song and parade around for a year and then miss their moment,” he wrote on X. “Kudos to him and his team.”
“You can tell the artists who are prepared to blow up vs the ones who aren’t. Move like you know it’s gonna happen.”
When someone told him Richman was an “industry plant,” he replied: “Yall call anyone who blows up that wasn’t on your radar an industry plant cuz your ego can’t handle not knowing something cool before everyone else did.”
