The actor stars as the iconic singer/songwriter in his latest film, ‘A Complete Unknown’
Timothée Chalamet once again got his inner Bob Dylan on.
The actor, 29, pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live on Jan. 25, acting as both host and musical guest.
During his first musical performance, Chalamet channeled Dylan, 83, whom he portrays in his latest film, A Complete Unknown, by singing a medley of “Outlaw Blues” and “Three Angels.” Later in the evening, Chalamet did the same as he returned to the stage to perform “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.”
During his opening monologue, Chalamet detailed that he chose those specific songs as they are his “personal favorites.”

Set in New York in the early 60s, A Complete Unknown spans four years of Dylan’s life, as the 19-year-old from Minnesota becomes one of the most iconic singer/songwriters in history.
The biopic film features Chalamet singing as Dylan, performing popular tracks such as “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Times They Are A-Changin'” and “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.”

In a recent Rolling Stone cover story, Chalamet opened up about how he prepared to take on the role of Dylan by working with a vocal coach, a dialect coach, a guitar teacher and a movement coach.
“You can’t re-create it in the studio,” he told the publication. “If I was singing to a prerecorded guitar, then all of a sudden I could hear the lack of an arm movement in my voice.”

Chalamet also recently opened up to PEOPLE about the transformation he went under in order to play Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
“The whole thing was really just a sort of magical experience,” the star said. “I don’t want to ruin it with words because, really, it’s deeply personal to me.”
The Dune and Wonka actor added, “I can say just being in that time period was awesome, and living that.”
Saturday Night Live airs weekends on NBC. A Complete Unknown is in theaters now.
