See Elton John’s Legendary Keyboard Jump Recreated for New Madame Tussauds’ Wax Figure

A new figure highlights one of Elton John’s most iconic performance moments.

Madame Tussauds in London debuted a new wax figure on Friday, Dec. 20 dedicated to the “Bennie and the Jets” singer that recreates his legendary keyboard leap done in the 1975 concert at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The figure, which the museum calls “our most structurally ambitious creation to date,” features John, 77, suspended in midair while playing the piano in a handstand move that immortalizes the EGOT holder’s iconic moment.

A year after John performed the concert, he posed for his first wax figure at Madame Tussauds as the museum’s first smiling and talking figure.

The outfit worn by the wax figure is inspired by the jumpsuit John wore for his 1975 Midsummer Music one-day festival at Wembley Stadium. To accurately recreate the outfit, the museum was given access to the original ensemble he wore, designed by Bob Mackie.

John’s wax doppelgänger dons rhinestone sunglasses along with white-and-bright-blue platform sneakers. According to the museum, the baby grand piano featured is covered in 24,000 rhinestones.

“Elton John is a true living legend and a dazzling personality to behold, so we knew we had to go above and beyond for this figure,” Steve Blackburn, the general manager of Madam Tussauds London said in a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“Capturing Elton’s phenomenal stage presence — and that iconic keyboard handstand — in figure form is quite the challenge, and the result is one of our most technically ambitious figures to date.”

Blackburn continued, “It feels fitting to unveil this one-of-a-kind figure for the festive season and showcase the expert craftsmanship that’s gone in to deliver a pose that we have never done before!”

“Elton is a star deserving of the grandest spotlight, and we’ve made sure that his figure captures the attention of everyone in the room — much like the icon himself,” concluded the statement.

While fans can go visit the new wax figure in London, they can also look forward to fresh tunes from John soon. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the “Your Song” artist teased new music on the way.

“You will be getting some more [music],” he said in response to whether his creative “juices are flowing again” after completing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

“The juices have never dried up. They never want to dry up because I’m always looking to create things,” he continued. “It’s just having the space now to do it at my own time. Of course there will be new Elton John music.”

John was on the talk show earlier this month to promote a documentary about his decades-spanning career, Elton John: Never Too Late, which debuted Dec. 13 on Disney+.
