Queen Elizabeth Used Her Mimicking Skills to Impersonate Melania Trump: Report

The late monarch was known to have a sly sense of humor, including a knack for accents!

The late Queen Elizabeth had many enviable talents, including impressions of some of the world’s most recognizable figures.
The history-making monarch’s sharp wit was one of the royal family’s worst-kept secrets. Following her death, Prince Harry told PEOPLE in January 2023 that he especially missed her “cheeky sense of humor.”
Reportedly, that talent for comedy also included a knack for accents. The Daily Mail reported on March 11 that the late Queen would impersonate not only President Donald Trump but also his wife, Melania.

According to the outlet, “The late Queen Elizabeth, who hosted Donald Trump three times in 18 months, became adept at impersonating the U.S. President. Less known, however, is that the monarch also had a take on his rarely heard wife, Melania.”
“A source, who was present when she was asked to render the First Lady, says that HM would go silent, put on a bored face and eventually mutter: ‘I want to be alone’ à la Marlene Dietrich,” they explained. “It seems the Queen felt sorry for the latest Mrs. Trump.”
In the 2024 documentary The Cowboy and the Queen, Queen Elizabeth’s friend Monty Roberts said she “didn’t like” Trump.

That same year, a biography on the late monarch, A Voyage Around the Queen, reinforced that claim.
“A few weeks after President Trump’s visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude,’ ” wrote Craig Brown. “She particularly disliked the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting.”
King Charles recently extended an “unprecedented” honor to Trump following his second inauguration.
On Feb. 27, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited with Trump, 78, in the Oval Office, where he presented him with a letter from the King, 76, inviting him for an official visit.
Trump was invited by the late Queen Elizabeth for a state visit in June 2019 during his first term as President.
“This is really special. This has never happened before, this is unprecedented,” Starmer said of the second invitation. “I think that just symbolizes the strength of the relationship between us.”

“I think the last state visit was a tremendous success,” he continued. “His Majesty the King wants to make this visit even better than that, so this is truly historic. An unprecedented second state visit, he wants to talk that through with you.”
“On behalf of our wonderful first lady, Melania, and myself, the answer is yes,” Trump replied. “We look forward to being there and honoring the King, honoring your country.”
“Your country is a fantastic country, and it will be an honor to be there,” he added.
