Prince Harry Spends Valentine’s Day Apart from Meghan Markle Visiting Tsleil-Waututh Nation

The Duke of Sussex engaged with the local community while supporting the Invictus Games in Canada

Prince Harry had a special Valentine’s Day with the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.
While Meghan Markle marked the holiday with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at home in California, the Duke of Sussex continued his trip to Canada for the Invictus Games. On Feb. 14, he spent time with the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, a First Nations band government in British Columbia, where the adaptive sports competition is being held.
Prince Harry, 40, spent time with the Tsleil-Waututh youth, visiting a daycare. In photos from the visit, he danced with a young girl in a pink dress and sat on the floor to interact with another child in a room decorated with hearts for Valentine’s Day.

According to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s website, “These emerging leaders are focused not only on shaping their own futures but also on honoring the legacy of their ancestors and ensuring the continuation of the First Nations’ rich traditions. Their work as cultural ambassadors plays a vital role in safeguarding their people’s stories, values, and way of life, empowering future generations to carry these traditions forward.”

In a “profoundly moving moment,” Prince Harry took part in a traditional blanketing ceremony.
“Being blanketed is the highest honor, symbolizing protection, respect, and the recognition of one’s journey,” according to Sussex.com’s description of the ceremony. “It is a powerful and sacred gesture that symbolizes the warmth and embrace of the community, offering a deep sense of belonging and solidarity. Prince Harry expressed sincere gratitude for the honor of being welcomed in such a meaningful way.”
They added, “As the day drew to a close, it became clear that both the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and the Invictus Games share a common thread: the power of community for healing.”

To mark Valentine’s Day, Meghan, 43, shared a never-before-seen photo with her husband on Instagram. The black-and-white snap shows the couple kissing over a meal, and the post was accompanied by a sweet message.
She wrote, “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.”
“My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever,” she continued. “Thank you for you.”
Meghan concluded with the hashtag #lovewins and the sign-off, “As ever, M.”
