Pamela Anderson, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and Colman Domingo Land Gotham Awards Nominations
Kieran Culkin, Saoirse Ronan and Justice Smith are also nominated for awards
Awards season officially kicks off with recognition for Pamela Anderson, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and Colman Domingo.
The 2024 Gotham Awards — billed as “the first major event” of awards season — revealed its nominees on Oct. 29, and Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Moore (The Substance), Kidman (Babygirl) and Domingo (Sing Sing) will all vie for Outstanding Lead Performance honors.
The five films up for Best Feature are Anora, about a Brooklyn sex worker who weds the son of an oligarch; Babygirl, starring Kidman as a married exec having an affair with an intern; Challengers, featuring Zendaya as a tennis coach in a complicated love triangle; A Different Man, about an actor (Sebastian Stan) with a medical condition who alters his appearance; and Nickel Boys, a drama based on Colson Whitehead’s novel about two Black boys in a horrific 1960s reform school.
Overall, 39 movies and 25 performances were highlighted in nine categories. Nominees are chosen by committees of journalists, critics, festival programmers and film curators.
The 2024 Gotham Awards are presented by the The Gotham Film & Media Institute, which “celebrates and nurtures independent film and media creators, providing career-building resources, access to industry influencers, and pathways to wider recognition,” according to its statement.
The awards will be held live and in person at 7 pm on Monday, December 2nd at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
