The Witcher will soon be crossing the finish line.

Upon kicking off production on the fourth season with a table read, The Witcher’s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced that the show was greenlit for a fifth and final season. Season 5, according to the post, “will bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion.”

“See you on The Continent,” the statement concluded.

Although the Netflix series is now set to have proper bookends, production on the show hasn’t always been smooth. In October 2022, then-lead Henry Cavill, who played protagonist Geralt of Rivia, announced on Instagram that he would depart the show after its third season.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill, 40, wrote in the caption. He also expressed his “reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt” and “enthusiasm” to see successor Liam Hemsworth’s portrayal.

“Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find,” the Man of Steel star added.

The same day, Hemsworth, 34, confirmed on Instagram that he would step into Cavill’s shoes for the upcoming fourth season.

“As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,” the Hunger Games actor captioned his post, which featured the same logo as Cavill’s step down.

Hemsworth continued, gushing over Cavill and how he depicted “this beloved character.”

“I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” he concluded.

Ahead of filming for season 4, Hemsworth posted a bicep-bearing mirror selfie at the gym showing he’s ready to play the beefy monster hunter. In a tank top and Adidas sweatpants, the actor posed in front of dumbbells and other workout equipment.

“#legday,” he captioned the black-and-white photo.

In the same post, Hemsworth thanked viewers of his action-thriller Land of Bad for “all the love and support” since it hit theaters in February.

Seasons 1-3 of The Witcher are currently streaming on Netflix.
