The 32-year-old has notched up a remarkable 37 goal contributions in 26 matches in all competitions this season, prompting questions over whether Salah could win the 2025 Ballon d’Or. The Egypt international, however, downplayed such talk and said he wants Liverpool to win as many trophies as possible this term.
When asked about a possible Ballon d’Or triumph, he told Sky Sports: “The only thing in my mind, to be fair, is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that. That’s the only thing I’ve really focused [on] since the beginning of the season. I will do my best for the team to win trophies. We are in the right direction but of course, there are a few other teams really trying to catch up with us and they are very good teams. We just need to stay focused and humble, work hard, and just go again.”
Salah is on course to have his best-ever season for Liverpool but it could be his last as he is out of contract at Anfield next summer. The former Roma man says he is “far away” from signing an extension, but while he is here, the Reds are top of the Premier League, are flying high in the Champions League, and could win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, too.
Salah will hope to continue his extraordinary run of form when Liverpool host struggling Manchester United on January 5 in the Premier League.
