Meghan Markle to Join Prince Harry at Invictus Games in Show of Support: ‘There Is No Separation’

An onlooker in Vancouver tells PEOPLE: “They present a united front when it comes to matters they both care about”

Meghan Markle will be by Prince Harry’s side to support him and the athletes at the upcoming Invictus Games.
PEOPLE confirms that the Duchess of Sussex, 43, will join her husband at the Invictus Games’s 2025 competition in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada. The event kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 8 and runs until Sunday, Feb. 16.
The Invictus Games will mark Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan’s first official appearance together since their tour of Colombia in August. In January, they were spotted together visiting the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, Calif., to help distribute food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire.
Meghan’s attendance underscores that while she has solo projects on the horizon, she and Harry remain united in both their personal and professional lives, with her family as her top priority.
When asked about their thoughts on the Duchess attending, an onlooker in Vancouver tells PEOPLE: “I think it’s great that she’s coming. There is a lot of speculation about them and their marriage, but this reinforces one thing to me, at least — there is no separation. It looks like they present a united front when it comes to matters they both care about.”

In December, Prince Harry addressed the constant scrutiny of his and Meghan’s relationship. During a conversation with New York Times columnist and DealBook founder Andrew Ross Sorkin, Sorkin noted public fascination with their every move, referencing Meghan’s planned solo appearance at the Paley Honors gala.
Harry responded lightheartedly, joking that he was attending the N.Y.C. event alone because he had been invited, prompting audience laughter. However, he later dismissed speculation about their time apart, calling it baseless. “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?'” he quipped, adding that he ignores the noise and even feels sorry for trolls who build up false hopes.

Prince Harry is a veteran of the British Army and founded the Invictus Games as an international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans in 2014 as a means for healing. The Invictus Games celebrated its 10th anniversary year in 2024, and up to 550 athletes from up to 25 nations will compete in 11 adaptive sports at the next tournament in Vancouver and Whistler.
The Invictus Games are a sweet part of Prince Harry and Meghan’s courtship story, as they memorably made their public debut as a couple at the Invictus Games in Toronto in September 2017. At the time, Meghan was living in Toronto to film the legal drama Suits, and the pair publicly confirmed their romance when they held hands at the wheelchair tennis event.
The couple went on to wed in May 2018, and Meghan has never missed an Invictus Games since. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex marked another milestone at the next iteration of Invictus after their royal wedding, as they stepped out at the Invictus Games in Sydney just a few days after Kensington Palace announced Meghan was pregnant with her first child, son Prince Archie, now 5.

The Duchess of Sussex has previously spoken at both the opening and closing ceremonies of Invictus Games competitions. She also supported Prince Harry in Canada in February 2024 for the One Year to Go countdown event.
The upcoming Invictus Games take the competition back to Canada, marking the tournament’s first return to a former host country. The games were launched in London in 2014, and followed by cycles in Orlando, Florida (2016), Toronto, Canada (2017), Sydney, Australia (2018), The Hague, the Netherlands (2022, rescheduled from 2020 amid the COVID pandemic) and Dusseldorf, Germany (2023).

The next contest will mark the debut of alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, biathlon, skeleton and wheelchair curling as sports in the tournament for the first time, and both the opening and closing ceremonies have star-studded lineups. Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Noah Kahan and Roxanne Bruneau are set to headline the opening ceremony of the upcoming Invictus Games on Feb. 8, while Jelly Roll, Barenaked Ladies and War and Treaty take the stage for Invictus’ closing ceremony on Feb. 16.
Hyping up excitement for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler, Jelly Roll and Prince Harry hilariously collaborated in an upbeat video released in November 2024. There, the country music superstar gave the Duke of Sussex a faux neck tattoo inspired by Invictus’ “I am” motto, in a silly spoof revealing that the “Save Me” singer would headline Invictus’ closing ceremony.

The video was filmed at East Side Ink in New York City, and tattoo shop owner Josh Lord told PEOPLE that a blast was had behind the scenes.
“Absolutely, the person who was unexpectedly the funniest was Harry,” Lord previously told PEOPLE. “Here we are, a room full of people who have seen some things, but Harry was probably the bravest and funniest of all of us, really. Behind the scenes, he’s got comedic chops that I didn’t expect” — including Harry’s realistic scream when the needle hit his neck!
“That was the first take!” Lord recounted with a laugh.
