Megan Thee Stallion is doing her part to make sure her hometown of Houston is prepared for future disasters after the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl.
According to a report from the Houston Chronicle published on Friday (July 17), Meg is partnering with Bread of Life, Inc. to launch the Emergency Power Program through her Pete and Thomas Foundation to provide generators for senior citizens across Houston and enable them to access electricity during future natural disasters.
In a statement, Meg said: “It’s been painful to watch the elderly population in Houston suffer without electricity during these devastating storms. That’s why we wanted to partner with Bread of Life to take a strategic approach to this problem and secure generators to help protect our senior citizens. We need to do our part to provide our elders with the best resources possible to withstand future emergencies.”
The Pete and Thomas Foundation — named after her late parents Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete Jr. —was established in 2022 to assist women, children, senior citizens and other underserved communities, with a focus on education, housing, health and wellness.
In other news, Megan Thee Stallion recently received an apology from Shannon Sharpe over a crude joke he made about her last year.
The Houston rapper appeared on an episode of Club Shay Shay that was released on July 1, where the three-time Super Bowl champion and media personality took a moment to sincerely express his remorse.
Meg, before we go any further, I wanna apologize to you personally,” he began. “I always wanted to sit down and have a conversation with you – I didn’t know if that was gonna be possible. But I was always hoping that I got an opportunity to bump into you.
“Because I made a comment, I think it was like September or October, and I told a joke. I sad it in jest, but I believe the joke would’ve been just as funny if I had left you out of it.”
He added: “So for any unwanted attention, harm, shame or embarrassment that I caused you or your family, I wanna say as a man, as I sit here before you, I apologize.”
Megan responded: “I appreciate that.”
Sharpe made the original comments during an appearance on Nightcap last November after co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson asked him about his crush on Megan Thee Stallion.
“I’d have her stretched out like quarter-to-three,” he said. “I do it three ways, Ocho: deep, hard and continuously. That’s all I got, Ocho. You better stop playing.
“I’d have her opening up like saloon doors… You know my walk [is] a little off right now, but I still do something a little here and there.”
The former NFL star was roundly criticized online, with many calling his remarks “wildly inappropriate,” especially in the post-#MeToo era.
