Katy Perry Shares Emotional Tribute to Late Celebrity Hairstylist Jesus Guerrero: ‘It Was Easy to Love You’

Guerrero died unexpectedly last week at age 34, and has received tributes from a number of stars including Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and now Perry

Katy Perry is opening up about the loss of her friend and celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero.
On Saturday, March 1, the pop star, 40, shared an emotional post on Instagram which features a collection of photos and videos of Guerrero, who died unexpectedly last week at the age of 34.
“Hey Hey aka Chuy aka Jesus, our light filled beautiful boy ❤️,” the “Woman’s World” singer began her lengthy caption, which appeared alongside clips and snaps of Guerrero helping her get ready for events and music video shoots, as well as the pair hanging out together.
“You aways made every room so warm and welcome. There was no problem too big to solve and one of your many talents was effortlessly reminding women around the world of our Goddess nature with even just a simple blowout,” Perry continued.
“You took care of everyone and brought a positive energy to everything. It was easy to love you because you always felt like an old friend who would tell you the truth and hold you if you needed an extra cuddle,” she wrote.

“I know you are OK because you are now in the light that you shined so brightly back here on earth. It’s just us that are left with a dimmer world without you,” Perry continued.
The musician also shared a quote that she said helped her to sum up her emotions in the week since Guerrero’s death.
“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go,” the quote reads.

“Let us take that grief and replant it as a seed of love and give it to someone who needs it from you today,” Perry added. “Life is precious and when we unexpectedly lose ones we love without being able to say goodbye it reminds us to never ever hold back on giving out our love.”
The “Firework” singer finished her post by cracking a joke about one of the hairstylist’s favorite looks, writing: “Jesus, you effervescent soul you, you better be giving the other Jesus a choppy feather or an octopus cut up there lol… till we meet again, I love you Chuy.”

Guerrero’s family announced his death in a series of Instagram Stories posts on Sunday, Feb. 23.
“Our family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support during this hard time. Jesus was the brightest light, we have never doubted that he touched the hearts and lives of everyone he came across,” the family wrote alongside an image of Guerrero.
In a GoFundMe page, Guerrero’s younger sister Gris said her sibling died “suddenly and unexpectedly.” His cause of death has not been made public.
“It is with a heavy heart that we let the world know that Jesus Guerrero has gone to heaven,” she wrote. “He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more.”

“Born and raised in Houston, Texas, to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top. Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly,” Gris added.
A number of celebrities have spoken out since Guerrero’s death to share their condolences, including Kylie Jenner, who offered to cover his funeral expenses.
“Jesus’ death hit her hard,” an insider told PEOPLE of Jenner, 27, on Feb. 24. “She is shocked and very upset. Still, she’s doing everything she can to be supportive and aid his family, including financially.”
“As upset as she feels, she knows it’s so much worse for his family. She doesn’t want them to stress about money,” the source added. “She’s taking care of expenses, including those associated with his funeral.”
In addition to Jenner, Guerrero also worked with Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Rosalía, Demi Moore, Charli xcx, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Lisa of BLACKPINK.
