Cam’ron and Ma$e have speculated as to why Kobe Bryant’s parents might have recently listed the NBA legend’s championship ring at a sports auction.
In an episode of It Is What It Is that premiered on Friday (March 22), the two MCs and special guest, former NFL player Maurice Clarett, shared their theories about what may have led Kobe’s parents to want to sell the ring, which appeared on the sport memorabilia site Goldin earlier this month.
The ring in question is a replica of Bryant’s first NBA Championship ring — which he won alongside the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000 – which he commissioned as a gift for his father, former NBA player Joe “Jellybean” Bryant. According to Sports Illustrated, the elder Bryant and his wife originally considered selling the ring in 2013, eight years before their son’s untimely death.
As of publication time, the leading bid for the replica was $141,000, nearly five times more than the opening bid of $30,000 which kicked off the auction on March 8. The auction set to end at 10:00 PM EST on Saturday, March 30.
Ma$e said that he was speaking hypothetically, before explaining: “History has shown a little bit that Kobe and his parents weren’t on the best of terms, because of their relationship…I think that could play a part into why they selling the ring…Your family can sometimes do you the worst, it could be worst than what you get in the street.”
Ma$e asked if it was confirmed that the Bryants sold the ring because his wife, Vanessa, and Kobe’s estate weren’t supporting the rest of his family.
Clarett clarified that he was going off hearsay, but thought it was a logical conclusion considering the sale.
“Like Mo said, everybody knows Kobe wasn’t fucking with his parents, because his parents weren’t fucking with Vanessa,” Cam offered. “He met Vanessa at a young age, they told him, ‘You bugging out, you don’t need to get with this girl, you gonna meet 100 girls. He went against his parents, ended up meeting Vanessa, ended up being his wife.”
Killa then dove into Kobe’s extra-marital affair and Vanessa’s loyalty, saying: “[She] never got caught cheating. Kobe got caught cheating, and she didn’t leave…She coulda went divorce and got half of it, but she stuck with him.”

Killa Cam and Money Mase are not shy about sharing their opinions, especially when it comes to the NBA.
Earlier this month, the “Down and Out” rapper mocked Nick Young for revealing he was once in the car with Gilbert Arenas and Draya Michele while they had sex.
Speaking on It Is What It Is, Killa Cam joked about the former Los Angeles Lakers star’s bizarre admission.
Cam said: “Shoutout to Shabazz [OG], he made a great point. He said, ‘Y’all n-ggas is not having them morning meetings with yourself in the mirror.’ You know, that three second to 33 second meeting with yourself in the mirror. Cause y’all n-ggas is just running around saying everything.
“How is your man getting a blowjob in the backseat change your life? He getting his dick sucked — pause — but it changed your life? Why are you commenting on that n-gga getting fellatio’d and you wasn’t even getting fellatio?
“He said, ‘I don’t even wanna know.’ But you should think about what you’re saying before you say it. I was like, ‘Hmmm that’s a good point.’ It ain’t like he talking about getting his joint sucked. You talking about your man, you must be in the front like, ‘Woooo!’”
