A Boogie With Da Hoodie has earned his first ever diamond-certified single from the RIAA for his Kodak Black collaboration “Drowning.”
Its diamond status confirms that the track has now earned the equivalent of 10 million units, according to a post from Chart Data on Tuesday (June 25).
The track, released in 2017, was the lead single from A Boogie’s debut studio album, The Bigger Artist.

The New York-born rapper has been very vocal about his desire for accolades and chart plaques.
Speaking about his second collaboration with Kodak, “Water (Drowning Pt. 2),” A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie manifested his success in a 2022 interview with GQ.
“Kodak and I want a diamond record under our belt right now,” he said. “So when it comes to ‘Water,’ it’s going to make ‘Drowning’ go diamond at the same time. We’re going to do the video together this time, and bring both of our fan bases together
“I was telling everybody, ‘This got to be the main one right here. We got to push this shit right here,’ so we are going to go hard for this song.”
A Boogie may have more certifications in his near future after dropping his most recent album Better Off Alone in May. Future and Young Thug are among the guests on the new album, alongside Cash Cobain, Lil Durk, Fridayy, and Mariah The Scientist.
Better Off Alone serves as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s fifth studio album, and follows the same solo theme as 2022’s Me vs. Myself.
The album arrived amid a troubled European tour for the rapper. Earlier in May, his scheduled concert in Manchester, England was canceled just a few minutes after doors had already opened.
The cancelation was put down to a “venue-related technical issue” and had nothing to do with A Boogie, who became the third act to suffer a postponement at yet-to-open venue Co-Op Live following comedian Peter Kay and rock band The Black Keys.
Around 10 minutes after doors had opened, the venue announced that the concert would longer go ahead due to technical problems inside the venue itself, apparently related to air-conditioning.
“We kindly ask fans to leave the area. Ticket holders will receive further information in due course,” they wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “We deeply apologize for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.”
