NICK CANNON GIFTS RICH HOMIE QUAN’S FAMILY $25K DONATION DURING ‘WILD ’N OUT’ SHOW

Nick Cannon has honored Rich Homie Quan and helped the recently deceased rapper’s family in a very direct way: by giving them $25,000.

Atlanta’s WSB-TVreported that during a Wild ‘n Out live show in Atlanta on Thursday (September 19), Cannon stopped the normal routine of rap battles and comedy sketches in order to perform some of Quan’s hits.

After that, he brought up a few of Quan’s family members, including the rapper’s father Corey Lamar and his brother Rich Homie Dre, to give them a $25,000 gift.

Ten thousand dollars of the money, Cannon explained, came from Wild ‘n Out fans; another $10,000 from him personally; and the final $5,000 from partners at the venue, State Farm Arena.

Cannon’s Atlanta show was just two days after Quan’s funeral.

Held on Tuesday (September 17) at World Changers Church International in South Fulton, the open-casket ceremony was packed to the brim with well wishers. This was the decision of Quan’s father Corey Lamar, who decided to do a large service to celebrate his son’s life.

The city of Atlanta officially declared September 17 to be Rich Homie Quan Memorial Day and peers like Killer Mike, DC Young Fly, former NBA star Stephen Jackson and more addressed the crowd with kind words about the late rap star.

The former Rich Gang rapper pronounced dead on September 5 after being found unresponsive in his home. A cause of death has still yet to be announced, although an autopsy was recently completed.

The police report stated that Quan was initially found at his Atlanta home “asleep on the floor by the kitchen with food in his mouth” by his brother Andre Munford in the early hours of September 5.

Munford told police he then carried the rapper onto a couch, describing the circumstances as “very unusual.”

Hours later, Quan’s girlfriend Amber Williams awoke to find him laying on the couch. She then left the house to drop her kids off at school.

Upon returning, Williams said Quan had not moved from the couch. Assuming he was still sleeping, she went back upstairs to their bedroom to go back to sleep, the report said.

After waking up, Williams said she checked on Quan at 11 a.m. which is when she noticed that his body was cold and he did not appear to be breathing. She immediately called 911, per the report.

The responding officer said Rich Homie Quan did not appear to be “alert, conscious or breathing” when he arrived at the property and he did not suspect foul play.

Quan, who was 34 years old, was transported to nearby Grady Hospital in Atlanta where he was pronounced dead.
