Dakota Johnson is wearing her engagement ring following rumors she’d split from fiancé Chris Martin.
The Cha Cha Real Smooth actress, 34 was spotted out with her friends Jeremy Allen White and Blake Lee in Malibu, Calif., on Friday, Aug. 16. Johnson wore an oversized tan coat and jeans for the outing, and also sported her emerald engagement ring on her left ring finger.
The ring sighting came after speculation that Johnson had broken up with the Coldplay frontman, 47. On the same day that the photos were taken, a rep for the Madame Web star confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple is “happily together.”
Martin and Johnson were last spotted together in June, when Johnson attended the Glastonbury Festival to support the “Fix You” singer for Coldplay’s headlining set.
“They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on,” a source told PEOPLE of the couple at the time, adding that they were “going strong.”
Martin and Johnson first began dating in 2017, three years after the musician and his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow split — or as they famously put it, “consciously uncoupled.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey star was first seen wearing the emerald ring on her left ring finger in December 2020. However, her engagement to Martin wasn’t confirmed until March 2024.
“[They] got engaged years ago, but were in no rush to get married,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time.
Johnson and Martin prefer to keep their relationship as private as possible despite their public-facing careers, but have spoken about each other on occasion and make appearances at each other’s events.
Most recently, Martin opened up about Johnson on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast in March 2023 when talking about how she helped to improve his band’s concerts for people with hearing impairments.
“Dakota, my partner, gave me one as a gift because she saw someone online experiencing whatever they are experiencing with this,” he said of being introduced to a SubPac — a device that allows people with hearing impairments to feel the vibrations of a concert — by the actress.
“It’s kind of like body armor that you put on. It connects to the bass,” Martin continued.
