There were suggestions during the recent Copa final that the youngster was ignoring his illustrious colleague when both found themselves on the bench – with Messi suffering an unfortunate ankle injury during a dramatic clash with Colombia.

Garnacho has responded to a social media post in which he was branded “a proper Ronaldo fan boy” by pointing out that he celebrated with Messi – who had a smile on his face and was clearly not looking to give the United starlet the cold shoulder – after a 1-0 win secured another continental crown for Argentina.
