Chelsea are eyeing a move for Hoffenheim star Maximilian Beier, however, they are not favourites to land him.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Blues have shown interest in Hoffenheim forward Beier, who netted 16 goals and provided three assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances in the 2023/24 season. The Premier League giants have reportedly enquired with the German side about the availability of their star forward.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 21-year-old, who has a release clause of €30m (£25m/$32m) in his existing contract, has attracted interest from several other English clubs and newly crowned German champions Bayer Leverkusen. The Blues, despite their interest, are not being considered favourites at the moment to land the player this summer.

DID YOU KNOW?

With Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino at the helm this season, the West London side are looking to make some changes in their ranks in order to bolster the team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Other than Beier, the club also placed a bid for Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion, however, the Spanish side have reportedly rejected it.

WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?

Maresca and his boys will regroup next month for pre-season as they are all set to travel to the US where they are scheduled to face teams like Wrexham, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
