Rihanna Says the ‘Greatest Thing’ About A$AP Rocky Is ‘Seeing Him Be a Dad’ — but It Also Leaves Her ‘Annoyed’

Rihanna loves watching A$AP Rocky in dad mode, though there is a slight drawback to how much their two sons love him.

In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar published on Saturday, Feb. 22, the hitmaker, 37, declared that the “greatest thing” about the rapper, 36, “is seeing him be a dad. His pureness. His charm.”

And Rocky’s parenting abilities also go noticed by sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 18 months — sometimes to the point that the Fenty Beauty founder even gets a bit irked, she admitted.

“I’m annoyed because my sons sometimes just live for him more than they live for me,” the singer told Harper’s Bazaar. “And I’m like, ‘Did you know who cooked you? Do you know who pushed you out?’ And they love him, but when I see it, oh, it’s the best.”

Rihanna also pulled back the curtain a bit on the couple, who have been together since 2020, and their commitment to living a low-key, unbothered lifestyle — despite the spotlight on both them individually and as a unit.

Particularly when they are in New York City, the singer explained, she and Rocky (who was born and raised in N.Y.C.) visit the bars, restaurants, arcades — you name it — that they want to visit, rather than hiding away because of their fame.

“We like to eat with people,” the mom of two told Harper’s Bazaar. “We like to shop with people. We like to walk the streets with people.”

“I don’t like a private room,” she continued. “I don’t have them shut down stores. I don’t like the Rapunzel life. It’s very isolating. It’s very lonely. And what am I protecting myself from? I’m actually allowing people to dictate the robbery of the life that I could actually be living.”

Living like nobody else is watching is “a big thing for us and actually a really big thing for him,” Rihanna said of Rocky.

The rapper, she told the magazine, “always reminds me, no matter how hard everything is that we’re dealing with in our life, in our careers and as parents, he’s like, ‘Remember when we were friends? Remember when we just used to have fun as friends?’ ”

Rihanna and Rocky have shared rare glimpses into their life as a couple — and as parents to RZA and Riot — throughout the years.

The “Praise the Lord” rapper first opened up about their relationship in GQ‘s June/July 2021 cover story, calling Rihanna the “love of my life.”

As for what it’s like to be in a relationship, the rapper told the magazine, “So much better. So much better when you got ‘the One.’ She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones.”

“I think when you know, you know,” he added at the time. “She’s the One.”

In 2023, after the pair welcomed their two kids, Rihanna told Page Six that both Riot and RZA are “obsessed” with their dad — and said her love for Rocky has changed since he became a father.

“I love him differently as a dad. It’s a turn on,” she told the outlet, adding that Rocky is a “great, patient, loving” father.
