Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Montecito Neighbor Katy Perry Performs at Invictus Games Opening Ceremony

Katy Perry performed at the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada, showing support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, her neighbors in Montecito, California.

The pop superstar, 40, took the stage as one of the headliners at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, which the Duke of Sussex founded in 2014. She closed out the event, bringing the crowd to their feet (and inspiring a conga line!) with a medley of hit songs including “Roar,” “Dark Horse,” “Part of Me,” “Lifetimes” and “Firework.”

Joining Perry in the performance were the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the 15th Field Regiment Band and the Royal Canadian Artillery Band as well as 70 Invictus Games Dance Corp members and 10 Invictus Games puppets and performers.

The ceremony, held at BC Place in Vancouver, also featured performances by Chris Martin of Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Noah Kahan and Roxanne Bruneau.

The “Hot N Cold” singer’s support for the Invictus Games comes after Harry — who moved with his wife to Montecito, California in 2020 — revealed in 2021 that he and Meghan are neighbors of Perry and her husband, Orlando Bloom, and have become friendly.

“Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message — because he’s just down the road and we sort of keep in contact,” Harry said at at the time.

Perry performed at the Coronation Concert for Harry’s father, King Charles in 2023. Harry and Meghan also attended Perry’s last show of her Las Vegas residency Play that same year.

A former British army captain, Harry was inspired to start the adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans after returning from Afghanistan with injured allies and witnessing the U.S. Armed Forces’ Warrior Games in 2013.

Following cycles in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017) and Sydney (2018), the Hague (when COVID-19 pushed the event back to 2022) and Düsseldorf (2023), the upcoming cycle in Canada will be the first time the event has returned to a previous host country.

The Vancouver-Whistler Games will also mark a new chapter for the competition, as winter sports — including alpine skiing, snowboarding, curling and skeleton — will be included for the first time in the event’s history.

Dominic Reid, the outgoing CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation, praised Prince Harry’s dedication to the event, telling PEOPLE that he has “created extraordinary opportunities” for veterans and service members, making them feel “seen, heard, and cared for.”
