Roan has been vocal about her struggle navigating fame and has said if it ever gets “dangerous,” she might “quit”
As someone who grew up under the spotlight, Miley Cyrus can empathize with Chappell Roan’s approach to navigating fame.
In a cover story interview with Harpers Bazaar published Wednesday, Nov. 20, the “Flowers” singer revealed she was one of the celebrities who reached out to Roan when she posted a TikTok asking for respect from her fanbase.
“I wish people would not give her a hard time,” Cyrus, 31, said.
She added, “It’s probably really hard coming into this business with phones and Instagram. That wasn’t always a part of my life, and I’m not a part of it now.”
In fact, Cyrus noted she doesn’t “even have my Instagram password.”

The “Casual” singer shared the TikTok on June 22 and said she had been “reflecting on my life and the past couple of weeks.”
“But what’s so reassuring and so f—ing sick is — the pop girls that you and I have loved our whole lives or have been f—ing stans [of] the past two or three years — a lot of them have reached out and are so supportive and girl’s girls,” she said, adding that she was stunned by the way “the girls” are “supporting each other in the pop industry.”
She added, “To have people I look up to reach out and offer like a friend or help, I don’t know, it’s just sick and it makes me believe in the world.”
She didn’t reveal who she was referring to at the time. However, in September, Roan told Rolling Stoneshe found support in many fellow musicians, including Sabrina Carpenter.
“We’re both going through something so f—ing hard,” Roan told the outlet. “[Carpenter] just feels like everything is flying, and she’s just barely hanging on.”
“It was just good to know someone else feels that way,” added the “Good Luck, Babe!” performer.

Meanwhile, during a July appearance on Drew Afualo’s The Comment Section podcast, the “Pink Pony Club” singer revealed she had recently gotten invited to one of Cyrus’ parties.
“All these things that are happening to me now are just kind of icing on the cake. I never thought I could fly first class. You know what I mean? I never thought I would get access to so much backstage,” said Roan. “Miley invited me to a party, and I was like, ‘You don’t know that you were my first concert when the Jonas Brothers were opening for you.'”
In August, she opened up to Vulture about the fictional “Nobody’s Perfect” singer’s sonic inspiration for her own music.
“I just want to be Hannah Montana. That’s what I liked when I was little. I also loved P!nk, Katy, Gaga, but not to the degree I love it now,” she told the outlet. “I was so catty about pop music as a teen, but it wasn’t fair of me to judge it the same way I judge, like, Radiohead. Pop music is pop music. It’s not trying to be indie, math-rock bulls—.”
