50 Cent has been eyed to headline the next Fyre Fest by the event’s founder and convicted felon Billy McFarland, who thinks Fif might be able to deliver where Ja Rule fell short.
The beleaguered event, which is set to return on April 25, 2025 in Mexico is reportedly looking for a new spokesperson.
TMZ caught up with McFarland on Friday (September 13) and asked him about the state of the event. He offered a few details about the location — a remote island off Mexico’s Caribbean coast; what attendees can expect this go around; and the fact that the number of ticket requests has already far exceeded the locale’s 3,000-person capacity.
He explained: “Next week’s problem is booking the talent. We really wanna make sure it’s across all genres, so some electronic, some hip-hop, some rap, and of course the pop and the rock. We’re working through it now.”
McFarland was asked about Ja Rule, and he said: “I’m actually gonna try to call 50 Cent later today and come and see if he’ll headline Sunday night … We gotta give 50 Cent the spot so he can do what Ja Rule never could.”
However, the disgraced promoter stopped short of explaining exactly what he expected from the G-Unit boss. Check out the full clip here.
McFarland likely knew exactly what he was doing when he brought 50 Cent into his relationship with Ja Rule.
Back in March, the origins of their seemingly infinite beef was revealed by Steve Stoute.
“That’s a good question,” Stoute said. “I think 50 knew that Ja was not who he was portraying as an image. Ja [was a] Jehovah’s Witness… I’m not saying they not supposed to rap, but Ja was coming up with this gangster image. It was like, ‘That’s a stretch for you…’ They had some very neighborhood beef.
“I remember when we signed 50 there was something going on. I think he snatched Ja’s chain, or somebody snatched somebody’s…And then they had a fight in Atlanta…and it was just like, I never understood it.”
Stoute continued: “I was like, ‘Why do you keep having problems with this guy?’ It was like he was always looking for problems…I think it was driven by this idea that this image he was portraying he didn’t think was authentic…It led to big issues. Ja and his guys ran up on 50 in the studio one day. They touched him up.”
Sharpe then asked if they would ever be cool, to which Stoute answered that he doubted they could mend their differences.
As for McFarland, he’s been busy in other avenues in addition to planning the 2025 edition of Fyre Fest.
Back in July, it was reported by Rolling Stone that Donald Trump recruited the controversial businessman on his campaign for reelection later this year.
The notorious festival organize reportedly reached out to Icewear Vezzo‘s team and got him in touch with the former president in Detroit. Prior to that, he even claimed to have engineered Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow’s appearance at a Trump rally in the Bronx earlier this year and said: “I just love bringing different people together.”
