Actor and rapper 50 Cent appears to have suggested he will feature in the upcoming game GTA 6.
He posted a Vice City graphic on Instagram, one bearing the same style and font as the logo for 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
Where’s the relevance? GTA 6 is reportedly set in Vice City, which is a fictional take on Miami. The original Vice City game was set in 1986, but the new title could explore the city in a different era.
“I will Explain this later, GLG🚦GreenLightGang this shit bigger than POWER trust me. 💣BOOM,” read 50 Cent’s accompanying message.
He also used the hashtags of his Champagne and Cognac brands. However, he has done so in all of his recent posts.
And “GreenLightGang”? This is the name of a festival 50 Cent put his name to. It was originally meant to take place in September 2022, but will now be held between September 28 and October 2, 2023.
This offers a completely different possible interpretation of 50 Cent’s Instagram post, that this festival has been relocated from its original spot in Malta to Miami. GTA 6 is not expected to be released until next year at the earliest, so this is unlikely to be a roundabout, and very early, announcement of a virtual concert within GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 rumours
Lead roles in the series’s games are typically played by voice actors rather than movie stars like 50 Cent. However, this only stands until you reach back to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which starred Ray Liotta, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Hopper, Gary Busey, and Burt Reynolds, among others.
GTA 6 is also expected to be the first in the series to let you play as a woman. This is not in conflict with any suggestion 50 Cent could voice a playable character, though, as GTA V already sees you cycle between three primary characters.
In September 2022, almost 100 videos of a very early version of GTA 6 were leaked online. These appeared to confirm previous suggestions the game would be set in Vice City and feature a prominent female player character.
